Rev. Dr. Sebastian Vethanath is Catholic priest belonging to the Eparchy of Palai. He was born on 28 th December 1970. After schoolings, he joined Good Shepherd Minor Seminary Pala. He completed his Philosophy and Theology courses at St. Joseph Pontifical Semianary Carmelgiri and Mangalapuzha, Aluva. He was ordained priest by Bishop Mar Joseph Pallikaparampil on 28 December 1996. He holds a doctorate in Oriental Theology from Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome. He did his doctoral research on “Divinization in St. Ephrem with Special Reference to the Sacraments of Christian Initiation”. Since 2007 he was teaching in the SyroMalabar Major Seminaries in Ujjain and Satna, Madhya Pradesh. He was Procurator and Professor to Good Shepherd Minor Seminary, Pala for five years before his appointment as the Chancellor of the St. Thomas SyroMalabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago in 2012. He served the Eparchy of Palai as assistant parish priest, parish priest and secretary to Bishop Mar Joseph Pallikaparampil. After his return from USA, he was appointed the Director of Family Apostolate on 18 February 2017. After one year, He is appointed the Syncellus of the Eparchy of Palai on 30 August 2018.
